I've noticed that when I use buds in my right ear, theres a little bit of wax mixed with a yellow liquid that has a smell. Theres no pain or problems with my hearing, but it's kind of worrying. What could be causing this, and should I be concerned?

View allI think I have a small soft palate and it's affecting my speech. A speech therapist recommended surgery, but I'm not sure if that's the only option. Could a small soft palate really cause speech issues and what are the alternatives to surgery?
Yes, a small soft palate, or velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI), can indeed cause speech problems, particularly nasal sounding speech. While surgery is often recommended for VPI, it's not the only option, and other therapies can be effective. Speech therapy, prosthetic devices, and even biofeedback can help improve speech in many cases

I'm about a month post-tympanoplasty and I'm experiencing this persistent itching and some weird noises in my ear. There's also this internal skin pain that's kind of bothering me. When I talked to my surgeon, they said it's all normal, but I'm still worried. Is it really usual to have these symptoms after the surgery?
Usually it's not normal but in few cases healing process would cause those symptoms,no need to worry, follow your surgeons advice do not attempt to scratch or massage it.

I've been experiencing this issue where my hearing keeps coming and going over the last couple of weeks. It's really odd because sometimes, especially when I'm eating, I feel like I can't hear anything at all, almost as if I'm completely deaf. Other times, things sound just fine. The problem seems to happen in intervals, and I'm honestly starting to get concerned about what's causing it. What could be going on with my ears?
You may be experiencing fluctuating hearing loss, which can have various causes. In your case, it could be related to a condition called Meniere's disease. To help manage the symptoms of Meniere's disease, you can take Betahistine (brand name Serc). Additionally, you may benefit from using a diuretic like Hydrochlorothiazide (brand name Microzide) to reduce fluid retention in the inner ear. It is important to consult with an ENT specialist for a proper evaluation and management plan.
