I've recently had surgery for a pilonidal cyst about a month ago. Now I'm really concerned about it not coming back. I talked to my doctor and asked if I need to keep the hair off the area around my butt, but he said it's not necessary, just to keep it clean and dry after showers. I've been following his advice, but I'm still not completely sure because, honestly, I'm pretty hairy in that area. So, I'm wondering if getting laser hair removal could be a good idea to help prevent the cyst from recurring. What do you think?

To minimize the risk of pilonidal cyst recurrence, consider the following:

Treatment Options

  1. Laser Hair Removal: Reduces hair growth, which can help prevent pilonidal cyst recurrence. Ensure you consult your surgeon or dermatologist before undergoing this treatment.
  2. Waxing or Sugaring: Alternative hair removal methods that can help reduce hair growth.
  3. Depilatory Creams: Dissolve hair at the surface of the skin, making it easier to remove.

Advice

  1. Maintain Good Hygiene: Continue to keep the area clean and dry, as advised by your doctor.
  2. Avoid Tight Clothing: Wear loose, breathable clothing to reduce friction and irritation.
  3. Monitor the Area: Regularly inspect the area for any signs of recurrence, such as redness, swelling, or drainage.
  4. Follow-up Appointments: Attend scheduled follow-up appointments with your surgeon or dermatologist to ensure the area is healing properly.

Precautions

  1. Consult Your Surgeon or Dermatologist: Before undergoing any hair removal treatment, consult your surgeon or dermatologist to ensure it's safe and suitable for your individual case.
  2. Avoid Sharing Personal Care Items: Prevent the spread of bacteria by using personal care items exclusively.

I've been using Melas cream for over a month, but I recently stopped because my skin keeps peeling. I'm really worried about how to get my skin back to normal. Do you have any recommendation on which cream might help with the recovery?

After stopping the use of Melas, it is important to allow your skin to recover. You can use a gentle moisturizing cream containing ingredients like aloe vera or hyaluronic acid to help soothe and hydrate your skin. Additionally, you can use a mild steroid cream like hydrocortisone 1% to reduce inflammation and promote healing. Make sure to apply these creams as directed by the manufacturer or your healthcare provider. It is also important to protect your skin from further damage by avoiding sun exposure and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

I'm wondering about the FAS 3 kit instructions. Is it supposed to be taken once a week? And does that mean it's a two-week course, like you take one kit on one day this week and then another the next week? Or is just one kit enough for the whole course?

FAS 3 kit is typically taken as a single dose. The kit contains multiple tablets that are meant to be taken all at once, not spread out over multiple weeks. So, one kit is usually enough to complete the course of treatment.

I'm dealing with really rough and frizzy hair right now and I'm thinking about getting a keratin treatment. But I've also got a lot of dandruff at the moment. Is it a bad idea to go ahead with the keratin treatment while I'm dealing with dandruff, or should I wait until it clears up? Also, does a keratin treatment lead to any hair loss? Would love some advice.
