My dad is 55 and his MRI scan shows a brain tumor. The doctor recommended surgery and wants him admitted by Monday for quick treatment. Is surgery really necessary in this case? I'm worried and would like a second opinion from a neurosurgeon on whether this is the best option.

My dad has had a herniated disc in his lower back for about 20 years after falling down the stairs in an accident. He's been dealing with leg and hand pain because of it. We're wondering if surgery is the best option at this point or if he can manage without it. What would you recommend?
For a herniated disc of 20 years with leg and hand pain, non-surgical management is usually the first approach, especially if the symptoms have been stable or improving. Surgery is considered if conservative treatments fail to relieve pain, nerve damage worsens, or there's significant loss of function
