my dad had an accident yesterday and the xray shows a compound fracture in his left foot can you help me understand how serious this is and if he definitely needs orthopedic surgery

I've been taking anti-inflammatory meds but they're not helping at all should I consider steroid injections next or is surgery the better option at this point

My MRI shows a complete ACL tear in the proximal part from a football injury and the doctor recommended surgery. Are there any non-surgical options to treat this or will I eventually need the operation?
ACL repair and reconstruction is advised ,yes it is the correct approach.
