My dad just had an ultrasound done, and they found an 11 mm stone in his right kidney. He's not feeling any pain or discomfort right now. Should we be considering surgery, or are there medications that might help with this? What do you think?

11mm is a big stone. It is unlikely to pass on its own. Better to get it removed

Undergo CT scan with contrast to find out if cyst is complex or not . If complex u may require surgery but I’m not complex nothing to worry. Ultrasound can also specify simple cyst if done by good radiologist

I've been dealing with really painful kidney stones - an 18mm one on the left side and a 3.3mm one on the right. The pain comes and goes but it's pretty intense when it flares up. You can pick from options like 1. Surgery ( most effective), 2. Extracorporeal short wave lithotripsy ( ESWL) in which there are no cuts involved. Medicines would not be effective except for relieving pain

I'm really worried about my mom.
