My dentist recommended flap surgery for gingivitis but I'm not sure if it's really needed. Do I have to get the dental X-ray they mentioned or is there another way to check the problem?

I've noticed these little holes inside my cheeks on both sides. There's no pain or bleeding, but when I touch them with my tongue, they feel like they're injured. I've been dealing with really bad tooth pain for the past two days. I've already tried the painkillers, ketorol dt, but it still hurts a lot. What else can I do for relief? Is there something else you would recommend? This pain is really getting to me.
pain could be because of tooth decay you need to visit a dentist and get it checked. Get an x-ray done if required. If there is cavity get it filled. If there is infection to the root of the tooth, you need to get it treated.
