My father-in-law is 55 and a farmer, pretty fit overall. He's had swelling and pain below the scrotum for about a year, and now the pain is getting worse. A doctor said it might be a hernia. At what point does he need surgery? Are there any meds that can help avoid surgery? Is it better to get surgery done early?

View allHad ID surgery for a breast abscess 4 days ago with drain pipes still in place. During my dressing today, the surgeon noticed a possible fistula forming and advised me to pump the affected breast. Only a few drops of milk come out when I pump, but there's more leakage from the drain pipes. Would taking milk suppression meds help prevent the fistula? Are there any serious short or long-term side effects of those meds?
Milk suppression meds like cabergoline may help reduce leakage—discuss with your surgeon to prevent fistula formation.

My sister has gallstones around 8.5mm in size and her gallbladder is really swollen and stretched out. Should she get surgery or is there another way to treat this?
Given the size of the gallstones and the swollen, stretched gallbladder, surgery (cholecystectomy) is usually the best and most definitive treatment. Delaying it can lead to complications like infection or pancreatitis. Medical management is limited and often ineffective in such cases. Please consult a surgeon for timely evaluation.

My wife has several gallbladder stones around 56 mm in size and the doctors are recommending immediate surgery. I'm really worried and wondering if there are any other options like medications or natural remedies that could help instead of going straight for surgery. Is it possible to dissolve or pass these stones without an operation?
I would need some more details to get a clear idea of what you are going through
