My husband's sonogram shows an anterior low anal intersphincteric fistula at the 12 o'clock position with an internal opening at the low anal level. The report says both internal and external sphincters are normal. He had a pus-filled abscess that burst on its own and keeps coming back, but no other symptoms like constipation, pain during bowel movements, or blood in stool. The doctor recommended surgery but didn't prescribe any meds. Since he's otherwise healthy, is surgery really necessary?

I'm a final year MBBS student dealing with a pilonidal sinus and my doc recommended ID treatment but I'm torn between wide excision and rotation flap surgery. Which one would be better for long-term recovery and less chance of recurrence? I'm really stressed about making the right choice
For a long-term recovery and lower recurrence rate in pilonidal sinus treatment, the rotation flap surgery (Limberg flap) is generally preferred over wide excision. While wide excision can be effective, it often involves a longer healing time and a higher chance of recurrence due to the nature of the wound in the natal cleft. Rotation flap procedures, like the Limberg flap, offer better wound closure, reduced recurrence rates, and generally quicker healing times

My dad has a walnut-sized lump, maybe a lipoma, that wasn't painful before but has been hurting for the past 23 days. What's the best way to treat this and how much would lipoma surgery cost along with the recovery time
If the lipoma is painful and bothering your dad, the most common treatment is surgical removal. This is typically done under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Recovery time is generally 2-3 weeks. Lipoma surgery cost can range from ‚Çπ12,500 to ‚Çπ15,000, depending on factors like the technique used and the surgeon's fees
