My lab report shows S. Typhi O titer at 1:120 and H titer at 1:40. Could you please explain what this means? Do I have typhoid fever? Also, how long does it typically take to recover if I am infected?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
These titres are borderline and not diagnostic of typhoid on their own. Recovery time depends on symptoms and other findings. Please follow up with a doctor for accurate interpretation.

Hi Doctor. I have had a fever for the last three days, especially at night, with a temperature of 102 degrees F, chills, and headache. My lab report shows neutrophils 80 percent, lymphocytes 16 percent, and WBC indicates neutrophilia. Widal test is 1:160 for both TH and TO. COVID test is negative. The doctor prescribed Paracetamol and Cefamid 200, but there has been no improvement.

Dear Doctor, I had tonsillitis last week, and my WBC was 17x10000/L. After taking the prescribed medication and no longer experiencing a sore throat last Thursday, I repeated my blood test on Tuesday, and my WBC has decreased to 13x10000/L. Although it has come down, it is still above the normal range. Could you please advise if this rate of reduction is normal and whether I should be concerned?
