What are the causes of irregular periods?
Few causes of irregular periods are stress, weight gain or loss, uterine polyp or fibroid, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, PCOS, premature ovarian insufficiency, thyroid disorder.

If next cycle starts from 28 +/- 7 days from the first date of last menstrual cycle then it is considered a normal cycle.
One may have some underlying causes such as stress, hormone imbalance, poly or uterine fibroids which cause delay in periods in the absence of pregnancy.
Periods can get delayed by any number of days. If next cycle starts from 28 +/- 7 days from the first date of last menstrual cycle then it is considered a normal cycle. A delay of 10 days is not normal and may need evaluation.
Exercise is an effective way to maintain a healthy weight. Because being overweight can cause irregular periods, reducing weight may make periods more regular. Any kind of aerobic exercise, walking, jogging, running, yoga are good. What's important is to have a regular exercise, not the type of exercise.
