Hello Doctor, I noticed a lump in my left breast about three weeks ago and consulted a surgeon, who advised me to get a breast ultrasound. The report shows a BIRADS category 3, and I have now been recommended to undergo a core biopsy. I am currently a lactating mother, and I have a few concerns. I would like to know if the core biopsy is absolutely necessary at this stage, and if so, will it affect my ability to continue breastfeeding normally? Also, could you explain how the core biopsy is performed, where exactly the local anaesthesia is given, and what the expected recovery time is? I have attached my breast ultrasound report for your reference.
