What exactly happens during keyhole surgery for a slipped disc do they remove the whole disc or just part of it I'm a bit confused about how much they take out
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
In keyhole surgery for a slipped disc (also known as microdiscectomy or minimally invasive discectomy), the goal is to remove the damaged or herniated portion of the disc that is pressing on the nerve, not necessarily the entire disc. The surgery uses small incisions and specialized instruments to access the disc and remove the offending tissue.

View allCan anyone suggest the best hospitals in Bangalore for herniated disc surgery? My orthopedic doctor recommended surgery soon but their facility isn't equipped for it, so I came to Bangalore. Also, can a herniated disc lead to something like scoliosis is that common?
For herniated disc surgery in Bangalore, consider these hospitals known for their spinal care: Ishaan Spine Hospital, Kauvery Hospital, Manipal Hospitals, and Fortis Hospital. Scoliosis is generally not directly caused by a herniated disc, but untreated herniated discs can affect spinal alignment and potentially worsen existing scoliosis

My dad is 60 and his MRI showed a small T2 FLAIR hyperintense lesion near the right CP angle, around the 8th nerve and root exit zone of the right 5th nerve. The report says it's likely a trigeminal schwannoma. How serious is this? Would he need surgery or radiation treatment?
A trigeminal schwannoma, confirmed by MRI showing a T2 FLAIR hyperintense lesion in the CP angle, is generally considered a benign tumor that can often be managed with surgery. The tumor's size and location near the 8th and 5th cranial nerves require careful consideration, but surgical removal is often the primary treatment. Radiation therapy may also be an option in some cases, particularly for larger or unresectable tumors

I have a disc bulge at C5-C7 according to my MRI report which shows cervical canal dimensions from C2 to C7 as C2C3 11mm, C3C4 9mm, C4C5 11mm, C5C6 10mm, C6C7 9mm. Doctors say this is causing my left arm and wrist pain, making it hard to sleep or work. I've seen multiple doctors but no one has given me a clear solution. Is this condition curable? Right now I'm doing isometric neck exercises but wondering if surgery might be needed. If I wanted to consult you in person, where in OMR road could I meet you?
ortho opinion is advised to the patient at apollo hospital.
