Which blood pressure medication is best for my high BP and angina pain? I'm kind of stuck because one doctor recommended Metoprolol and another suggested Amlodipine. I really want something that works well but doesn't have a lot of side effects. Can you help me figure out which one might be better?

For high blood pressure and angina pain, it is important to follow the advice of your healthcare providers. Both Metoprolol and Amlodipine are commonly used medications for these conditions. Metoprolol is a beta-blocker that helps lower blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart, while Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that helps relax blood vessels. For proper relief and minimal side effects, a combination of both medications may be beneficial. You can consider taking Metoprolol (brand name: Lopressor) along with Amlodipine (brand name: Norvasc). The typical dosage for Metoprolol is 25-100 mg once or twice daily, and for Amlodipine, it is 5-10 mg once daily. Please consult with your healthcare provider to discuss the best treatment plan for your specific condition.

My aunt has a heart problem and doctors recommended a heart valve replacement, including Dr Anil Bhan last year. We couldn't afford it then, but now she's admitted at SKIMS Hospital in Srinagar and her condition is serious. She has young daughters, so we really need to figure this out. Can you tell me the approximate cost for the valve replacement surgery, including hospital stay and medicines? We need to arrange funds quickly to save her life.

Heart has 4 valves in all . I would need to see a 2 D Echo and then decide what surgery and then predict appropriate cost

I'm experiencing some left arm pain and dizziness lately, and I also have GERD issues. From time to time, I get this jaw pain too. Could this be something related to my heart? I had a Holter test done back in February and everything seemed normal, but I'm still a bit worried. Would really appreciate your insight on this.

I'm feeling a bit worried because my ECG came back showing an abnormal sinus rhythm and something about an STT abnormality in V5V6. The report also mentioned left ventricular hypertrophy, and I've been experiencing dizziness and fatigue on and off. Just last Friday, my blood pressure was 150110, but then it dropped to 110130 by Sunday. Does this combination of symptoms and results suggest something serious that I should be concerned about, or could there be a more straightforward explanation? What should my next steps be?

Your ECG results indicate abnormal findings, including ST-T abnormalities in leads V5 and V6, suggesting possible myocardial ischemia or strain, and left ventricular hypertrophy, which may be related to high blood pressure, and your symptoms of dizziness and fatigue, combined with fluctuating blood pressure readings (150110), suggest that you should consult a cardiologist for further evaluation and management to rule out underlying conditions like hypertension, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathy.
