Question
Can IBS be a result of consuming too many antibiotics? I underwent H. pylori eradication treatment which was started late, but even after eradication I continued to experience significant gastric issues. Especially after my periods, I feel a lot of pain and discomfort in my stomach. My doctor said I have IBS. Could IBS be caused by prolonged use of antibiotics?

IBS symptoms can result from gut imbalance due to antibiotic overuse. Even after H. pylori treatment, the gut takes time to recover. A stool test can check for remaining issues. Stool routine and culture is sufficient for now. If normal, then increase dietary fibre in the diet for good gut movement.
