Dear doctor, recently I fell sick and had fever and body pain. In fact, all my family members fell sick. My mother was diagnosed as dengue and typhoid positive. My daughters completely recovered. Their blood test results were negative for dengue, malaria, and typhoid. I was the last one to get sick. My test results for typhoid and malaria turned negative. On 02 Dec, Dengue IgM was negative (1.39 units) and IgG was equivocal (20.06 units) with platelets 1.40 lakhs/cmm. On 04 Dec, I again took a retest without my doctor knowledge. The results this time were: Dengue IgM 3.20 units (negative), IgG 52.46 units (positive), platelets 1.38 lakhs/cmm. Is there anything to be worried about, doctor? I would be glad if someone can explain why the IgG values have doubled? Thanks.

A rising Dengue IgG value with a negative IgM indicates past exposure or recent recovery from Dengue, not a new infection. IgG can remain high or increase during recovery and is not a cause for worry if you are clinically improving. Your platelets are slightly low but stable, which is common after viral illnesses. Stay hydrated, eat well, and monitor for any bleeding or worsening symptoms. You can book a CBC test after 1 to 2 weeks to monitor platelets and ensure recovery.

Is it possible for blood test results to be incorrect?

My blood report says leukocyte count is 3900 cells per cumm, platelet count is 86 thousand per cumm, and SGOT AST is 72 IU per L. How can I get back to normal. What am I suffering from. Should I go for some check up? Please help.
