Hai Doctor, my period has been delayed by 8 days. I am undergoing treatment for fertility problems, and since starting treatment my periods had been regular. I visited my doctor today, and she asked me to take a urine pregnancy test, which came out negative. She advised me to wait for another 5 days, saying that sometimes fertilization can be delayed. My question is: can this really happen, is it useful to wait further, and is it safe to have sex during this time?

Yes, sometimes delayed implantation occurs. Waiting is helpful. Light intercourse is usually safe unless your doctor advised otherwise. Repeat test if no period in few days.

I had my periods on 30 june. I had unprotected sex on 11 july. My periods were due on 30 july, but till now they have not come. I did a pregnancy HCG kit test yesterday, and the result was negative.
