I am 38 years old, weigh 76 kg, and am 5.9 inch tall. I take 25 mcg Thyronorm for mildly elevated thyroid levels, a dosage that was initially suggested during my pregnancy in 2016 to maintain TSH around 3 to 4. About 8 months ago, my TSH rose slightly above the range (5.4), and I continued the same dosage. I recently learned about the health benefits of basil seeds and have started consuming 2 teaspoons of soaked basil seeds in lemon water daily. However, I read that people with thyroid issues should consult their doctor before taking them. I also have high cholesterol. Could you please advise whether it is safe for me to continue taking basil seeds daily?

Taking 2 tsp of soaked basil seeds daily is usually safe, even if you have thyroid or high cholesterol. They can support digestion, blood sugar, and lipid levels, but should not be taken close to your thyroid medicine. Maintain at least a 2 hour gap between your Thyronorm and basil seeds. Keep tracking your thyroid and cholesterol values every 6 months.

Hello Doctor, I am Sharmila, 25 years old. During my pregnancy, I had thyroid issues, and my doctor prescribed 50 mcg thyroid tablets. After delivery, I had my thyroid levels checked, and they have reduced. Should I continue taking the tablets, or can I stop them? I have attached my latest thyroid profile for your reference. Please advise

Recently, I underwent the 86 test package and the report shows some blood parameters that are either above or below the normal range. I am not sure which specialist doctor I should consult. The main findings are: TSH is about three times higher than normal, and there are deficiencies in Vitamin B and Vitamin D. Kindly guide me on which specialist to visit.
