I had a urine test done at the doctor which was positive for leukocyte esterase and nitrites. However, the culture came back with no bacteria detected. Does this mean I do not have a UTI? What could be other causes for the pain and positive results in my urine test?

If urine culture is negative but dipstick is positive, it could be due to contamination, antibiotics taken before test, or interstitial cystitis. A repeat clean catch sample or ultrasound may help.

The gynecologist is on a one week leave. Is it anything to worry about?
