Question

I have a 9mm kidney stone and my doctor recommended surgery but I'm really nervous about the risks. Is it safe to go through with the operation or are there other options I should consider first? I don't feel great about getting cut open

In 50% of patients who have 9 mm kidney stones, surgical treatment is usually required. The most effective treatment for them is extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), which is a non-invasive procedure.
