My wife is 8 weeks pregnant. Two days ago, we had a scan done, which was normal, and other blood tests were prescribed by the doctor. One particular test, Hb electrophoresis, shows abnormal readings (report attached). After seeing the results, the doctor said the reports were wrong and asked us to meet the lab technician. However, the lab technician and pathology doctor insist the reports are correct and advised us to consult the doctor again. The doctor has not provided any clear explanation and seems confused by the report.

Can someone please help us understand these results? We are worried about the abnormal readings.

I have attached my report. It mentions notching in uterine arteries, and a resistance index of 0.59 on the left side and 0.51 on the right side. Could you please explain what notching in the uterine arteries is, and whether these values are normal?

Uterine artery notching means there is slightly increased resistance in blood flow, which doctors monitor closely during pregnancy. It is common in early scans and often resolves. Regular follow ups will help keep everything on track.
