Question

I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma and successfully treated with RAI therapy, which destroyed the entire thyroid tissue. My pathology report shows BRAF V600 positive. My question is, once I am free from cancer, what are the chances of developing a secondary cancer?

BRAF V600E increases aggressiveness of papillary thyroid cancer but doesnt necessarily mean high risk for other cancers. Long term follow up is needed. Maintain regular surveillance with your oncologist. Risk of secondary cancers is low but monitoring is essential.
