I've been dealing with left varicocele since 2011 but the pain and discomfort in my scrotum has gotten really bad over the last 6 months. The constant ache is affecting me mentally too - should I consider surgery at this point or are there other options?

I had a left upper ureteric obstruction with hydronephrosis and a dilated left upper ureter, and my left Pelvicalyceal system is also dilated. A stent procedure a few months ago didn't help are there other treatment options besides open surgery? Also, how can I keep this from happening again in the future?
