My brother, Dhrub Kumar, has very high cholesterol and triglyceride levels according to his recent blood test. I am attaching the report for your reference. Kindly guide us on how to lower his cholesterol and triglycerides through diet, lifestyle, or treatment.

He should follow a low fat diet, avoid fried foods, walk regularly, and avoid alcohol. A lipid lowering medicine may be needed.

I am a CAD patient for the past 2 years. My recent lipid profile shows triglycerides of 256 mg/dL, while other values are in the normal range. I am currently taking Atorvastatin 20 mg, Aspirin Clopidogrel 75 mg, Metoprolol 50 mg, and Ramipril 5 mg. Earlier, my triglycerides were around 160 mg/dL, but this time they have risen to 256 mg/dL. What steps should I take to reduce my triglycerides?

Dear Doctor, please suggest what to do? My husband HDL levels are very low. He was using statins to control triglycerides, which were over 100 and are now 171. I am worried about his HDL levels. His lipid profile shows total cholesterol 118 mg/dl, HDL cholesterol 24 mg/dl, LDL cholesterol 60 mg/dl, triglycerides 171 mg/dl, TC/HDL cholesterol ratio 4.9, LDL/HDL ratio 2.5, VLDL cholesterol 34.2 mg/dl, and non-HDL cholesterol 93.6 mg/dl.
