My cousin recently had a CBC blood test, and the report shows Normocytic Normochromic RBC with mild erythrocytosis. Should this be a cause for concern? What can be done to manage or treat this condition? He has experienced some weight loss. He previously underwent surgery for thyroid cancer, and his latest scan is clear. He also received RAI therapy with a 100 mCi dose, and he has been doing fine since then. Is this blood report something to worry about?

Normocytic normochromic RBCs are generally normal. Mild erythrocytosis could result from smoking, dehydration, or hypoxia. Since your cousin had thyroid cancer, regular monitoring is advised. Consult your doctor for tailored evaluation.
