Question

My pneumonectomy stump has a 6mm opening that hasn't closed even after keeping an ICD for two weeks to drain the cavity. The cavity level has reduced, but the stump opening stays the same size as before. I'm looking for treatment options other than surgery what can be done to help this heal properly?

For the 6mm opening at the pneumonectomy stump, further interventions like vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) therapy or prolonged drainage may be needed. Non-surgical options depend on the type of cavity and healing status. Consider consulting a thoracic surgeon.
