However, a family member who is also a physician suggested that because my TSH level is quite high, I could take 125 mcg instead. TSH of 12 suggests underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). 50 mcg Thyronorm is a standard starting dose. Dose adjustments should be done only after repeat TSH test after 6 weeks of starting. Avoid adjusting based on non-medical opinion.
