Question
My recent blood report shows that my TSH level is 12.04. I am a female, currently weighing 83 kg with a height of 6 feet 7 inches. My doctor has prescribed me 50 mcg of Thyronorm. However, a family member who is also a physician suggested that because my TSH level is quite high, I could take 125 mcg instead. I am confused about the correct dosage and would appreciate your guidance based on the report. Thank you.

TSH of 12 suggests underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). 50 mcg Thyronorm is a standard starting dose. Dose adjustments should be done only after repeat TSH test after 6 weeks of starting. Avoid adjusting based on non-medical opinion.
