My thyroid was removed at the age of 20 (seven years ago0 and my TSH is normal. In this situation, would there be any problem with pregnancy, and would there be any problems with the health of the child before or after delivery?

Having your thyroid removed at age 20 is not a problem for pregnancy as long as your TSH remains normal with proper medication. Many women with no thyroid conceive and deliver healthy babies. Youll need to monitor TSH and Free T4 every 4 to 6 weeks during pregnancy, as dosage may need adjusting. The baby thyroid function is usually unaffected if your levels are well managed. Stay consistent with your medication and follow-up tests.

Do regular blood tests show thyroid problems?

My father is 76 years old and has hypothyroidism. He has been taking Thyronorm 25 mcg daily for more than a year. His recent blood test results are: T3: 90.55 ng/dL (normal range for above 50 yrs: 40 to 181 ng/dL) T4: 4.7 microgram/dL (normal range for above 60 yrs: 5 to 10.7 microgram/dL) TSH: 20.9 microIU/mL (normal range for 55 to 87 yrs: 0.5 to 8.9 microIU/mL) Should his dose be changed or kept the same? If it needs adjustment, what should the new dose be?
