For the past three days, my diarrhea has not stopped. I am having almost 7 to 10 bowel movements a day, along with vomiting twice and a nauseous feeling. I also have high fever and fatigue. My family doctor prescribed antibiotics and other medicines, saying it could be due to food poisoning, but there is little relief. Should I go for a blood test to determine if it is something else?

7 to 10 episodes of diarrhoea, along with nausea and vomiting may indicate a stomach or intestinal infection. High fever indicates an underlying infection. If your doctor has prescribed you an antibiotic which is not working, it could be due to resistance due to that specific antibiotic. Consider getting an antibiotic culture and sensitivity test. Few more tests like stool routine and culture, CBC, CRP, electrolytes are needed for the correct diagnosis.

I am a 29 year old single female. I have been experiencing stomach pain and diarrhea for several months. I consulted a gastroenterologist, who suggested that stress or IBS might be causing these symptoms. He prescribed Tab Novamcin RT, Cap Imodium, and Tab Revortil. After taking the medicines for a month, my pain and bowel issues improved. However, now I feel a heaviness above my navel. My doctor repeated some tests: TSH: 1.71 CRP: 3.46 mg/L Hemoglobin: 11.3 g/dL ESR: 110 mm/hr PCV/Hematocrit: 35.5 percent RDW(CV): 15.2 The doctor prescribed the same medicines again and added Tab Meganeuron OD, but the heaviness around my navel persists.

My baby was born premature and is now 4.5 months old. He is exclusively breastfed and has had loose motions for the last 10 days. For the first three days, the stools were watery. We consulted a doctor, who gave Bifilac GG twice a day and Zinc and Vitamin D 0.5 ml once daily. Now the stools are not watery but still very loose, seedy, and bubbly. Stool frequency in 24 hours is 3 to 6 times. Stool test shows pH 6 and reducing substance positive. The doctor has suggested stopping breastfeeding completely and giving lactose-free formula milk. He has no other symptoms, is active, and is gaining weight steadily. His current weight is 6.3 kg. Please suggest if breastfeeding should be stopped and what should be done regarding the loose motion?
