Sickle cell gene is inherited from both the parents. 1 set from mother and 1 set from father. This usually happens when both parents are carriers of the sickle cell gene, also known as having the sickle cell trait. The five prominent symptoms are the sickle cells die easily, vision problems, pain crisis, swelling in hands and feet and delayed growth especially during puberty.
