What is the difference between CAH and PCOS?
CAH is a genetic disorder where your body does not produce an enzyme needed to make adrenal hormones. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens. The latter also comes with insulin resistance.
Young women with high testosterone levels develop frontal balding. Other possible effects include acne, an enlarged clitoris, increased muscle mass, and deepening of voice. High levels of testosterone can also lead to infertility and are commonly seen in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
Certain health conditions, medicines, or injury can lead to low testosterone. Testosterone level also naturally drops with age. Low testosterone can affect sex drive, mood, and changes in muscle and fat.
One can notice the effects of testosterone by experiencing the enhancement in sexual activity and libido. In addition men also see a increase in muscle mass.
While estrogen is important after menopause if testosterone is added to the therapy then it will cause lesser bone loss and prevent osteoporosis and other health risks.
