What is the normal range of HbA1c?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
The glycated haemoglobin levels in the blood, which represent the average blood sugar levels over the past three months, are in the HbA1c test. The normal range for HbA1c is less than 5.7%. Levels between 5.7% and 6.4% indicate prediabetes, while a reading of 6.5% or higher is diagnostic of diabetes. For tracking long-term blood sugar control in diabetics, the HbA1c test is frequently utilised. A result that falls within the normal range suggests that glycaemic control is good, which lowers the risk of complications like kidney damage, neurological problems, and heart disease.

View allHi, my wife is pregnant and currently 17 weeks along. We had blood sugar and routine urine tests in March, September, and October. Blood sugar was in the normal range (76 to 77) and urine tests were normal. In November, sugar was 1+ in urine. I am worried as she has a family history of diabetes. What will be the medication during pregnancy? We are happy with our doctor as she said we need to closely track it. I am posting this for my clarification and satisfaction.
