What is the procedure for urine cytology?

There are mainly two ways to obtain the cells needed for a urine cytology exam. Your doctor may collect a sample during a cystoscopy examination, or you can give a clean urine sample.

What procedure is done in the lab after giving sample?

The lab consists of pathologist who will analyse the cells under a microscope for abnormalities in the sample. They may also check for cells in a culture dish to see if bacteria or other organisms are present. The pathologist will directly send the test results to your doctor.
