It’s quite common for people to avoid consulting with a doctor for minor health issues they face on a day-to-day basis. Why bother if your headache resolves itself in a few hours or if your fever automatically goes away in a short while, right? Well, sometimes, even the smallest of problems can be a result of a serious underlying condition. No matter how harmless an issue might seem, it’s always a good idea to get an expert’s opinion, especially if it is something you experience frequently.

Dr Sadhana Dhavapalani, a general physician associated with Apollo 24|7, says that, “Health checks are advised to be done yearly. Chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases and cancers are on the rise in India. Surprisingly, many of these get diagnosed during routine health checks. Patients who do have chronic diseases are advised to get their blood tests done at least once in 6 months, while others can get their full body checkup done annually.”

Here is a list of all the warning signs you should keep an eye out for to determine whether or not getting a full-body health checkup is necessary.

1. Frequent Headaches, Fever, and Cough

Many people suffer from frequent migraines and headaches. Usually, a headache is not considered anything critical and painkillers are readily available for resolving this issue. Similarly, cough and fever are also quite common illnesses that can occur especially during season transitioning. However, getting frequent headaches, fever, and cough should not be taken lightly as it could be a sign of some serious underlying issue.

2. Sudden Weight Change

Making changes in diet and exercise routine can help you reach your target weight. However, when your weight suddenly drops or spikes for no apparent reason, it can be a sign of a health issue. If you have experienced sudden weight loss, then get a health checkup done immediately.

3. Change in Bowel Movements

Clear bowel movements are a sign that your body’s digestive system is working well. However, in case of frequent bowel problems like loose motions, bloating, digestive issues, or constipation, don’t hesitate to get a full-body health checkup done.

4. Change in Appetite

Have you suddenly stopped eating like you used to? Well, everyone loses their appetite when they are sick. However, an increase or decrease in your appetite without any apparent reason can be a symptom of a health issue that should be diagnosed right away. Changes in appetite that persist over time often indicate some serious health concerns, making it essential for you to get checked out at the earliest.

5. Lethargy and Fatigue

Have you been feeling too tired all the time? Constant lethargy and fatigue can be linked to various health issues such as heart diseases, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and nutritional deficiencies. For this reason, if you experience a feeling of constant fatigue, exhaustion, and lack of energy, make sure to get a health checkup done immediately.

6. Aches and Stiffness in Joints

Frequent stiffness and pain in your joints can be a result of an injury, infection, tissue disorders, thyroid disorders or inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. If left untreated, regular joint pain can lead to long-term complications. Therefore, it’s highly advisable to avoid ignoring the problem and get it evaluated with a full body checkup.

7. Change in Sleeping Patterns

Getting enough sleep is essential for maintaining good health. If you are unable to get a good night’s sleep or if you are sleeping too much, then it can be an indicator of a health issue. To get to the root of the problem, get a full-body health checkup at the earliest.

Don’t wait around before getting a full-body checkup if you experience any of these symptoms. Notably, Apollo 24|7 offers a comprehensive full-body health checkup that consists of 54 separate tests.
