Question

I'm a final year MBBS student dealing with a pilonidal sinus and my doc recommended ID treatment but I'm torn between wide excision and rotation flap surgery. Which one would be better for long-term recovery and less chance of recurrence? I'm really stressed about making the right choice

For a long-term recovery and lower recurrence rate in pilonidal sinus treatment, the rotation flap surgery (Limberg flap) is generally preferred over wide excision. While wide excision can be effective, it often involves a longer healing time and a higher chance of recurrence due to the nature of the wound in the natal cleft. Rotation flap procedures, like the Limberg flap, offer better wound closure, reduced recurrence rates, and generally quicker healing times
