Question

I'm losing hair like crazy over the past few months, and there's so much dandruff and itching right on the crown of my head. But the weird thing is, it's mainly the hair on top that's affected. Do you have any idea why that's happening? Should I be seeing a dermatologist or a hair specialist for this?

Excessive hair loss, dandruff, and itching can be distressing. *Possible Causes* 1. *Androgenetic alopecia*: Hormonal imbalance causing hair thinning, mainly on the top of the head. 2. *Dandruff and scalp conditions*: Fungal infections, psoriasis, or eczema can lead to hair loss, itching, and flaking. 3. *Nutritional deficiencies*: Lack of vitamins B, D, or minerals like zinc, copper can contribute to hair loss. *Recommended Course of Action* 1. *Consult a dermatologist*: They can examine your scalp, diagnose underlying conditions, and provide personalized treatment. 2. *Get a scalp examination*: To determine the root cause of your hair loss and scalp issues. 3. *Blood tests*: To check for nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, or underlying health conditions. *Self-Care* 1. *Medicated shampoos*: Use a shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, ketoconazole, or coal tar to help control dandruff and itching. 2. *Scalp massage*: Gently massage your scalp to increase blood flow and reduce stress. 3. *Healthy diet*: Ensure you're getting essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to promote hair growth.
