I've been having a fast heart rate between 100 and 120 over the last few days. I'm using a brown inhaler for my asthma and an over-the-counter decongestant because of nasal polyps. Could these meds be causing it? If I stop taking them, how long might it take for my heart rate to go back to normal?

Both your asthma inhaler medication and the over-the-counter decongestant can contribute to an increased heart rate. The bronchodilator medication in your inhaler can cause a temporary increase in heart rate as a side effect. Similarly, decongestants can also stimulate the heart and lead to a faster heart rate. If you stop taking these medications, your heart rate should return to normal within a few hours to a few days, depending on how long you have been taking them and your body's response.
