Question
My eye power is 8.5 with some cylindrical issue. I got tested for laser eye surgery but the doctor said laser isn't possible or safe for such high power and recommended ICL instead. I don't know much about ICL is laser really not an option for my power and how safe is ICL?

Yes, with an eye power of 8.5 and some cylindrical error, laser eye surgery (LASIK) might not be a safe or ideal option for you, especially if your corneal thickness is also a concern. Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery is often recommended as an alternative for such high prescriptions. ICL is generally considered a safe procedure with a high success rate, and it can correct both nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism
