A perianal abscess is a painful, pus-filled infection near the anus. Antibiotics may be necessary to treat the infection and prevent complications.

  2. Importance of Medical Evaluation
A healthcare professional should assess the abscess to determine if drainage or surgery is needed.

  3. Common Antibiotics Used

    • Metronidazole (e.g., Flagyl)
    • Amoxicillin-clavulanate (e.g., Augmentin)
    • Ciprofloxacin combined with Metronidazole
Antibiotic choice depends on infection severity and patient factors.
  4. Considerations for a 58-Year-Old Male
Consider comorbidities like diabetes, which may affect treatment choice.

  5. Additional Treatment Measures
Abscess drainage, pain management, and maintaining hygiene are crucial.

  6. When to Seek Immediate Medical Attention
Look for signs of worsening infection or systemic symptoms that require urgent care.

  7. Consultation with Specialists

I'm 30, unmarried, and was diagnosed with a groin hernia 9 months ago. Right now, there's no pain, just a bulge. I have a few concerns first, is open surgery or laparoscopic better for this? Second, if I don't get surgery, could it affect my sex life? And if I do get surgery, does it matter if it's before or after marriage will it impact my sexual function? Also, can I still work out, run, and jump if I don't get surgery? And after surgery, how soon can I get back to gym and sports?

Hernotomy and repair of hernia wall is advised at apollo hospital.

I've had a lipoma near my neck and shoulder for about 25 years. It doesn't usually hurt but gets uncomfortable during workouts, especially shoulder exercises like barbell lifts I feel mild pain and tightness when my muscles tense up. Is there a way to treat it without surgery, and what's the best test to check its size?

For your long-standing lipoma that causes discomfort during workouts, non-surgical treatments like liposuction or steroid injections might be considered. To assess its size, an ultrasound is generally the preferred method. If you experience pain or rapid growth, a biopsy might be recommended.
