Doctor, I have done a proviral DNA test 55 days after exposure. It is negative. Do I need any more tests? Please tell me, as I am going to get married next month.

A negative HIV Proviral DNA test after 55 days is highly reliable, but guidelines recommend an antibody/antigen test at 3 months for confirmation. As you plan marriage, you can do a HIV 4th Generation (Antigen/Antibody) Test now for peace of mind. If negative, no further testing is needed. Always practice safe sex to protect yourself and your partner.

View allAfter 10 weeks (70 days) of unprotected sex with a sex worker, I took a 4th generation HIV assay test at SRL Lab, and the result was non reactive. How safe am I from HIV after 90 days? Is there any chance that the HIV test could become positive after 90 days? Can the SRL Lab report at 70 days be considered reliable? I have attached the report for reference.

Sir, I have a doubt regarding HIV testing. If a person tests negative at 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or even 10 years after exposure, but later tests positive, is it true that this depends on the immune system? Does this mean there is no conclusive test for HIV?

My report states that HIV 2 can be slow progressors to AIDS. I did an RTPCR test after 6 years of exposure, and the result was nondetected. However, the report notes that if the viral load is below 100 copies, the result may still come as non detected. My question is, if I had been infected with HIV 2 six years ago and have not taken any medication, could the viral load still be below 100 copies after six years due to slow progression?
