Question
During the cold season, I find I keep sneezing if I wake up around 7 am. It lasts for about an hour. But if I get up later, like after 8 or 9, it doesn't seem to bother me much. I'm kind of worried about what's causing this and what I can do to help it. Any thoughts?

Possible Causes of Morning Sneezing During Cold Season
- Common triggers include seasonal allergies (e.g., pollen, mold), indoor allergens (dust mites), and cold air exposure.
- These factors can cause sneezing, especially in the morning due to overnight allergen accumulation.
-
Diagnostic Considerations
- Observe for other symptoms like nasal congestion, itchy eyes, or runny nose.
- Consider consulting an allergist or ENT specialist for a proper diagnosis if symptoms persist.
-
Management and Relief Strategies
- Environmental Control: Keep windows closed during high pollen times, use air purifiers, and clean regularly to reduce dust.
- Personal Care: Use nasal saline sprays to clear allergens and avoid exposure to cold air early in the morning.
- Over-the-Counter Options: Antihistamines like cetirizine or loratadine can be helpful.
-
When to Seek Medical Advice
- Seek professional evaluation if symptoms persist beyond the cold season, worsen, or impact daily life.
-
Relevant Medical Specialties
