Got slapped on my left ear last night and now I can't hear properly, feels like something's blocking it. This morning, I tried using candibiotic ear drops, but now my ear feels like it's on fire. What should I do?

View allI've been having this weird sensation in my throat for the past month. It feels like something's stuck there, but it doesn't hurt. Sometimes it's right at the top of my throat, other times it's lower down. Eating and swallowing are totally fine, no problems there. Could you give me some advice on what's going on?
From your description, it sounds like you may be experiencing a sensation of something stuck in your throat without any pain or difficulty swallowing. This sensation is known as globus pharyngeus. It can be caused by various factors such as stress, post-nasal drip, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). To help alleviate this sensation, you can try over-the-counter antacids like Tums (calcium carbonate) to see if it improves. Additionally, drinking plenty of water, avoiding acidic or spicy foods, and practicing relaxation techniques may also be beneficial. If the sensation persists or worsens, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for further evaluation and management.

I'm dealing with BPPV and it's been really tough. Every time I turn my head towards the left, it feels like the room is spinning and I lose my balance. I've seen two doctors about it. The first said there's no medication for this, but the second prescribed Valium 2 and Vertin 24 for a couple of weeks and suggested some tests. They also performed the Epley Maneuver and taught me how to do it at home. My schedule is pretty hectic since I work 23 days weekly, mostly overnight due to different time zones, and the doctor advised me not to stay up all night. I'm just really anxious about when this will get better because it's affecting my daily life and I'm worried about whether these medicines will help or if something more serious might happen.
BPPV can be uncomfortable and worrying, but with the right treatment (including the Epley Maneuver), most people recover fully. It may take some time, so try to be patient and follow your doctor's instructions. The medications you are taking are supportive in managing symptoms, but the physical therapy (Epley) is key to addressing the root cause. If the problem continues or worsens, dont hesitate to revisit your doctor for further advice.
