Hey, I just got my Liver Function Test results and noticed some high readings: GGT at 243 and SGPT at 93. My ultrasound shows my liver is normal. What's going on here? My physician says everything's fine and no need to worry, but a doctor friend mentioned something called sugan in the liver. Could you help me make sense of this?

Understanding Elevated Liver Enzymes
- GGT and SGPT: These enzymes indicate liver function. Elevated levels can suggest liver stress or damage.
- Common Causes: Alcohol use, medications, or non-visible fatty liver changes can elevate enzymes despite a normal ultrasound.
-
Possible Reasons for Your Elevated GGT and SGPT
- Factors: Consider alcohol, medications, or liver stressors. Non-liver causes like muscle injury or bile duct issues may also contribute.
-
Clarifying 'Sugan' in the Liver
- Explanation: 'Sugan' might be a colloquial term, possibly referring to 'fatty liver' or 'steatosis', which can elevate enzymes even if the ultrasound is normal.
-
Next Steps and Recommendations
- Further Evaluation: Consult your healthcare provider for repeat tests or additional imaging.
- Lifestyle Advice: Avoid alcohol, review medications, and maintain a healthy diet.
- Specialist Consultation: Consider seeing a hepatologist or gastroenterologist if needed.

View allI'm wondering how long it usually takes to naturally cure piles? I changed my eating habits for a month, and I thought I'd beat it, but the pain is back again. I think I triggered it with some really spicy pani pooris. Is there something else I can try to ease the discomfort?

I've been dealing with really frequent farts and burps over the past 6 months. After I eat, my belly gets bloated and it's super uncomfortable. I end up burping around 20 to 30 times and have about 40 to 50 farts, which is really annoying. I've noticed that when I eat batter-fried stuff, chicken, or hummus, it seems to get worse. What can I do to fix this issue?
To alleviate excessive gas, bloating, and discomfort, try avoiding trigger foods like batter-fried items, chicken, and hummus, and incorporate changes like eating smaller meals, chewing slowly, avoiding carbonated drinks, and staying hydrated, while considering over-the-counter remedies like simethicone, activated charcoal, or probiotics

I've been dealing with loose motions since this morning, and even after having coconut water and an electrolyte solution, I'm not feeling any better. What else can I try to get some relief? Should I be worried about this lasting longer?
-It sounds like your stomach is still unsettled despite the coconut water and electrolyte solution. If the loose motions persist or you don't feel better soon, it might be helpful to consult a doctor to rule out any infections or other underlying issues.
