Question

Hi Doctor. I am a 41 year old male. My abdominal ultrasound report shows that the liver is average in size, measuring about 16.1 cm in the right midclavicular line with a smooth outline. It has normal homogeneous echogenicity with smooth echotexture. There is an ill defined heterogeneous lesion in segment IVb V measuring about 1.7 by 2.4 cm with minimal surrounding vascularity. The portal vein is average in calibre with normal colour flow. Can you explain the cause and how dangerous this condition is.

The liver lesion described may require further imaging to characterize. It is important to monitor such findings with a CT or MRI, especially if persistent or symptomatic. Clinical follow up is advised.

Dr. Hema Suggests...

Take a LFT (Liver Function) Test Test or Take a Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) Test Test
