Hi doctor, in March 2021 I fell on my knee while playing sports. I waited for 3 months and still had some pain, so I visited an orthopedic in June. Without any lab test for vitamin D, the orthopedic prescribed 60000 IU syrup per day for 11 continuous days. This led to a vitamin D level of 120 ng/ml. It has been 5 months and I still have several symptoms from July until now. I have a feeling of my head shaking, headaches, hand tremors, eye twitching, knee and muscle pains, chest tightness, difficulty in breathing, twitching like tremor all over the body, weakness, and very hot urine. My serum calcium level has been between 10.5 and 11 mg/dl for the past 5 months, now 11 mg/dl. Vitamin D now is 46 ng/ml. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is 75.67 pg/ml. Uric acid has been between 9.6 and 7 mg/dl, now 7 mg/dl. Creatinine is 0.9 mg/dl. Vitamin B12 is 196 pg/ml. Thyroid: T3 is 0.85 ng/ml, T4 is 6.88 ug/dl, TSH is 3.82 uIU/ml. Blood pH is 8.6. Magnesium is 1.6 mg/dl. What could be the cause of these ongoing symptoms and what should I do?

Your symptoms may be linked to past high Vitamin D dosing causing high calcium levels, which can lead to tremors, muscle pain, and weakness. Your calcium is still on the higher side, and your Vitamin B12 is low, which can also cause tremors and weakness. Your magnesium is low, contributing to muscle issues. It is advisable to increase water intake, avoid extra calcium or Vitamin D, and take Vitamin B12 and Magnesium supplements. You can book a Serum Calcium, Magnesium, and B12 test after a month to monitor improvement.
Dr. Bhanu Suggests...
Take a Calcium Test Test or Take a Vitamin B12 Test Test

View allMy father has been a chain smoker for many years. Recently, I have noticed that he has become very lethargic, has lost interest in daily activities, and is also showing signs of forgetfulness. Although he has reduced his smoking, he has not quit completely. I am concerned whether these symptoms could be a result of long-term smoking. Kindly advise.

Hi doctor, earlier I had updated my blood report and you suggested me to take multivitamins with minerals. I am again updating my blood report. I sometimes feel fatigue and sudden dizziness but otherwise I am eating well, sleeping, and working normally. Please suggest some multivitamins that I can take. Thank you.

Hello doctor, I had ankle swelling and pain, as well as finger pain. I consulted an orthopedic doctor, who tested me and found high uric acid, low ESR, low vitamin B12, and low hemoglobin. The doctor prescribed some medicines. I would like a second opinion. Are these tablets safe, and do they contain steroids? I have attached my report and medicine prescription.
