Hi Sir, We recently did a thyroid test for my wife, who gave birth 5 months ago. The results are: T3: 2.96, T4: 0.54, TSH: 62. Is this normal after delivery, or should we start treatment? If treatment is started, will her thyroid levels come down to normal?

Your wifes reports show high TSH (62) and low T4, which confirms hypothyroidism. This sometimes happens after delivery and is called postpartum thyroiditis. It is not normal and needs thyroid medicine to correct it. With regular treatment and follow up, her levels can come back to normal.
Dr. Kamran Suggests...
Take a Thyroid Profile (T3 T4 TSH) Test Test or Take a THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES (ANTI MICROSOMAL ANTIBODIES) Test

I have been taking Thyronorm 75 mcg daily since last year. I have been feeling body pain for the past week, get tired very quickly, and feel that my body size is increasing rapidly.

My TSH level in the recent report is 4.86. I would like to know if this means I have hypothyroidism. Also, should I go for a retest to confirm the result?
