Hi Sir/Mam, My father has diabetes. One week ago, his blood sugar was 400?mg/dL with positive ketones, and he also has TB. We hospitalized him, and after 2 days, his retest results showed: Ketones: Negative Blood sugar: 88?mg/dL (continuously monitored) TB: Under control General health: Okay but weak Diet: Not eating properly Recently, his local doctor did an electrolyte test and found potassium at 2.6?mEq/L (normal is 4.0). The doctors have suggested intravenous potassium infusion over 24 hours.

IV potassium is safe if given with monitoring. Continue hydration, TB therapy, and improve diet. Monitor electrolytes daily during IV.
