How many days after exposure is the HIV Tridot rapid antibody test considered conclusive? Is the Tridot test a reliable test?
Answered by 1 Apollo Doctors
The HIV Tridot rapid antibody test is reliable after 90 days (12 weeks) post exposure for a conclusive result, as it detects antibodies that take time to develop. Testing earlier may miss infections. For early detection, an HIV RNA PCR test can be done after 14 days. If negative at 90 days with Tridot, it is considered conclusive. Always practice safe sex and consult your doctor if worried about exposure.

View allI had sex with a prostitute 20 days ago, and the condom broke. Yesterday I developed a fever and visited a physician. After taking the prescribed medicine, my fever subsided within a day, but I still have a sore throat. Could this be related to HIV? Can I get an HIV 1 and 2 antibody screening test done and will it be reliable at this stage? Please advise, as I am extremely anxious.

Is the HIV RNA test at 35 days conclusive?
Answered by Apollo Doctors
I went to a lab where they took my blood to do a test. The needle was sealed, but they used cotton that was probably used for another patient. My hand was sanitized and the cotton was used immediately after the injection was removed. Do I have a risk of HIV or any other infections? If so, please inform me what I need to do for HIV PEP?
