I am 4 months pregnant and was taking 100 mg iron tablets with no issues. After moving to a new city, my new doctor prescribed 500 mg iron tablets. Within 15 days, my LFT levels have increased dramatically, reaching levels similar to primary liver cirrhosis. My recent liver function test report: SGOT: 193 U/L SGPT: 257 U/L GGT: 65 U/L ALP: 338 U/L Direct Bilirubin: 0.60 mg/dL

High liver enzymes could be due to iron toxicity or pregnancy related liver changes. Stop current iron and consult gynecologist. Consider LFT monitoring.

Hi Doctor. I am a 41 year old male. My abdominal ultrasound report shows that the liver is average in size, measuring about 16.1 cm in the right midclavicular line with a smooth outline. It has normal homogeneous echogenicity with smooth echotexture. There is an ill defined heterogeneous lesion in segment IVb V measuring about 1.7 by 2.4 cm with minimal surrounding vascularity. The portal vein is average in calibre with normal colour flow. Can you explain the cause and how dangerous this condition is.
