I have a 12mm kidney stone and my doctor recommended surgery but I'm really hoping to avoid it. Are there any other options or treatments that could help pass or dissolve the stone without going under the knife?

It is impossible to pass a 12 mm kidney stone as it is too big to move through the urinary tract. Also, such a big kidney stone is highly unlikely to dissolve through oral medication and thus requires surgery for safe removal.

View allI've had a hernia on the left side of my groin for a while, and recently noticed my spermatocele in the upper scrotum has gotten bigger. The hernia has been a bit painful the last few days, and the spermatocele seems to have grown around the same time. Could the hernia be causing the spermatocele to increase in size? If I get hernia surgery, will that help with the spermatocele too? Are there any non-surgical treatments for spermatocele that might help?

My dad has been having some kidney pain and tests confirmed he has kidney stones. The doctors are recommending surgery right away without trying any medications first. Can you review the reports and let me know if surgery is really necessary? If yes, how soon should it be done?
