I have been experiencing sneezing episodes every early morning and at night for several days. Last Tuesday evening, I developed cold and fever with chills. The next day, a physician diagnosed it as a viral infection and prescribed azithromycin and oseltamivir. The fever has subsided, but the cold is still persisting. Today, my Widal test came back positive with a titre of 1:160. However, I understand that Widal can be falsely positive in viral infections. What should I do next?

A Widal titre of 1:160 can give false positives during viral infections and is not confirmatory for typhoid. Since your fever has subsided, and only cold persists, continue fluids, rest, and symptomatic care. If fever returns, or you develop weakness or digestive symptoms, consult your doctor. To confirm typhoid, do a Typhidot IgM or Blood Culture if symptoms persist.

View allMy mother has been having fever for the past 33 days. When she takes medication, the fever temporarily goes away, but it returns after some time. She also has diabetes and thyroid issues and is experiencing significant body pain. Her recent test report indicates typhoid fever. How can we effectively treat this, and are there any further tests we should consider?

I had a fever last week (not continuous) along with a slight, constant headache for 3 to 4 days. After the fever broke, I did a blood test at a private clinic the next day. The Widal test report showed 1/160 Typhi O positive. The doctor prescribed Rabasec D SR, Cefixime, and Ofloxacin for 10 days, saying it was a slight case of typhoid. Is this treatment appropriate?

My Widal test report says O positive and H negative. Can you say whether my result is serious or not? My age is 17 and I am male.
